About Garamantis
Founded in Berlin in 2014, Garamantis specialises in developing interactive exhibitions and showrooms. At the heart of its global projects lies bespoke software development, offering users an impressive interactive experience in showrooms, immersive spaces, and visitor centres. A long-standing partner of Ars Electronica, Garamantis has also been recognised by the German government as a ‘Culture and Creative Pilot 2020’. Its unique, bespoke projects give rise to interactive experiences that are unparalleled worldwide.
History
- Garamantis GmbH was founded in Berlin in January 2014 by Oliver Elias (Managing Director) and Marcus Dittebrand (CTO).
- Then as now, the company works closely with the renowned Ars Electronica in Austria. Joint interactive installations, projects and exhibitions worldwide.
- Since 2015, Garamantis has been working beyond individual project-based business to develop interactive products
- In early 2017, Garamantis won the Initiative Mittelstand’s IT Innovation Award for its multi-touch scanner table. The interactive display case was awarded the ‘Best of 2017’ distinction. The interactive projection was named ‘Best of 2018’ Innovation.
- In the summer of 2018, Garamantis opened an office with a showroom and experience workshop on the EUREF Campus in Berlin.
- In the summer of 2019, a partnership was formed with the agency Hustle&Bustle, leading to the opening of a showroom in Singapore.
- 2020: The Garamantis team consists of seven permanent staff members, supported by a network of freelancers and partners. The “multi-touch scanner table with optical object recognition and people sensor” is recognised as a Berlin Innovation by the Technologiestiftung Berlin.
- 2021: The German government honours the team as “Culture and Creative Pilots Germany”. Despite the pandemic, the projects become even more international, with Dubai, Mexico and Hong Kong.
- 2022: Garamantis’ interactive B2B showroom featuring a multi-touch scanner table wins the German Innovation Award.
- 2023: The focus shifts to immersive spaces. Realisation of a Deep Space in Shanghai in collaboration with Ars Electronica. Opening of an immersive space at Khroma Berlin.
- 2024: The Garamantis team now comprises ten permanent staff members and we are celebrating our tenth anniversary.
- 2025: We double our floor space at the EUREF Campus in Berlin. Immersive showrooms are created for clients including Infineon, the Wack Group and the German Armed Forces.
- Clients: medium-sized and large enterprises, hidden champions, government departments, universities, agencies.
- References: renowned organisations such as the European Space Agency (ESA), Europe’s largest software group, public institutions such as the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the German Federal Government.
- The company philosophy is based on a holistic approach that creates a new user experience of interactive technologies through creativity, design, bespoke software development and appropriately configured hardware.
- Garamantis operates without investors, debt or subsidies. Independence and flexibility are central objectives of the company’s development.
